SVG to PNG: Check the Downloaded Dimensions Before You Choose

To convert SVG to PNG at its original 120×80 dimensions, start with CloudConvert or SVGViewer: both returned a downloaded 120×80 PNG from the same 400-byte SVG in this test.

That recommendation is limited to this input and this run. It is not a ranking of converters or a claim about every SVG. SVGtoPNG returned 240×160, FreeConvert returned 375×250, and Vexlio returned 124×84. The input did not change between tools, but the downloaded dimensions did.

Eight tools, one unchanged SVG

Test date: November 1, 2026. The SVG declared a 120×80 canvas and contained an embedded PNG on an opaque background. Its input SHA-256 was f674f1047ee22de01cef2584583acef691763928776bd7074ee122eeedaff9d8.

The successful runs used the initially presented conversion settings without a manual resize. SVGViewer showed 1x, Vexlio showed 1×, and FreeConvert's initial settings included 300 DPI. The table records the downloaded files, not dimensions inferred from those controls. PNG dimensions were read with Pillow; byte lengths and SHA-256 values were calculated from the saved downloads. Every checksum below is complete.

What changed without changing the input?

CloudConvert and SVGViewer matched the declared 120×80 canvas, but their downloads occupied 384 and 581 bytes respectively. Matching dimensions did not give them matching file lengths. These measurements do not establish which image looks better.

SVGtoPNG added 120 pixels to the width and 80 to the height relative to the input canvas, returning 240×160. FreeConvert added 255 pixels to the width and 170 to the height, returning 375×250. Vexlio added 4 pixels to each dimension, returning 124×84. Those differences are calculated from the declared input dimensions and the actual downloaded PNG dimensions; their causes were not isolated.

Vexlio displayed 120×80 px @ 1× before download, while the saved PNG measured 124×84. For a task that requires exactly 120×80, that distinction matters more than accepting the preview label as the final measurement.

Where the other three attempts stopped

Canva reached its download login gate after the authorized terms and age confirmations. No output file was obtained, so this test cannot report its PNG dimensions, file length or checksum.

Shutterstock displayed the uploaded image and a generated PNG preview. Clicking its download link and retrying through the browser's media-download control did not yield a saved file. A visible preview was not counted as a successful download.

Vector Ink remained at the upload area after file selection. Retrying did not populate the file list. This records an unsuccessful attempt in the test browser, not proof that the service cannot convert SVG.

What this test leaves unanswered

The input had an opaque background, so this test cannot establish transparency preservation. It did not measure speed, exhaust free quotas, test other SVG features, or determine why the default output dimensions differed. File length alone is not a visual-quality score.

For this input, CloudConvert and SVGViewer supplied the requested 120×80 dimensions as downloaded files. If your destination requires a particular pixel size, check the saved PNG before using it; a preview label was not sufficient in the Vexlio run.
